Yes. I work in both colour realism and black-and-grey realism. The same principles of scale, body flow, contrast and focal hierarchy apply to both.

How much does a large realism tattoo cost?

My hourly rate is £140. Large projects are estimated after I review the idea, placement, size, skin, references and any existing tattoos. You are charged for the actual tattooing time used.

Large-scale work uses a substantial body area and is planned as one connected composition rather than unrelated small pieces. Common examples include full sleeves, large upper-arm projects, legs, backs and multi-session extensions.

Q: How many sessions does a realism sleeve take?

A full sleeve is a multi-session project. The estimate depends on colour versus black and grey, detail density, existing tattoos, anatomy and coverage. I give a project-specific estimate after reviewing the concept and placement.

Composition first

One body area. One visual system.

Large realism works best when the entire area is considered before the first session. I plan the main focal point, supporting subjects, negative space and direction of movement together.

A sleeve does not need every centimetre filled with detail. Controlled quiet areas often make the important objects stronger and protect readability from a normal viewing distance.

Projects can be built in black and grey, colour realism, or a carefully planned combination.

Choose the hero first

The largest or most meaningful subject gets priority. Secondary objects support it rather than compete at the same scale.

02 · Flow

Design around anatomy

Shoulder caps, elbow transitions, forearm rotation and muscle lines affect where faces, eyes and hard edges should sit.

03 · Distance

Protect readability

Large work needs a strong silhouette and contrast map before micro-detail. Fine detail matters more when the big shapes already work.

Planning the sessions

Large work is a sequence, not one marathon.

Before the first session

Send the body area, approximate coverage, reference subjects and clear photos of any existing tattoos. I use that information to judge scale and whether an in-person consultation would improve the plan.

During the project

Sessions can run up to 7 hours. We work through the composition in stages so each appointment fits the larger plan.
